Just What You Were Looking For! Custom Built to Scale
There are many scale hobbies. Each genre conjures up different images... H.O. scale trains might bring to mind guys wearing bib overalls, whereas dollhouses and miniatures might bring to mind little girls playing with dolls. However, each of these hobby areas have their collectors, their enthusiasts, and their artisans. Each has an aspect of play and an aspect of seriousness. Each has recognized artisans, those who have achieved stature by winning awards, and each has a museum where notable works are displayed.
For my part, I am neither collector nor artisan. I am a hobbyist, a person who enjoys recreating in miniature the many houses, furnishings, cars, buildings, toys, and other items that I admire. Consider allowing me to put 35 years of experience to work on your next project, whether that is a train layout, a special vehicle, a miniature room, a canopy bed, or anything else you have imagined. But first, have a look at some samples.

Scale Styrene Models
Although I have built 1:8 scale Corvettes, 1:144 scale houses, and many scales in between, I consistently return to standard scale model cars and H.O. scale buildings. They were the first plastic models that I built and they still enthrall me today.

Scale Houses and Rooms
Planning, building, decorating, and detailing 1:12 scale rooms and homes is a very time consuming, yet satisfying pursuit. I recommend it highly as relaxing, but intense, even therapeutic. Roomboxes may be completed and outfitted in a reasonable amount of time and can be displayed in home, office or school. Building a dollhouse is a large undertaking that can provide many months of enjoyment. Decorating a dollhouse, just as with your home, can take a lifetime.

Scale Furniture and Toys
Antiques collecting is a hobby for the well-healed. Making reproductions in miniature may take time, but a beautiful collection of one-of-a-kind furniture is within the means of many more people. And yet, the satisfaction of ownership is similar.

Our Friends
Here are a few of the web sites where Scale-Hobbies.com products are sold or where I find inspiration.
Father and Son Hobbies sells H.O. scale trucks and heavy equipment, and they also sell my industrial buildings, individually and in sets with construction equipment, warehousing sets, etc. Semi trucks and wide load rigs are their specialty.
Steve Harvey Miniatures offers a very special line of roomboxes and wall-hanging miniatures displays. I can custom finish and/or decorate any of his roomboxes for you, as I have done with his display models.
Maine Miniatures is a web site that details the miniatures scene for the state of Maine. They do not offer anything for sale themselves, but they review and link to every miniatures store and artisan in the state, announce shows, host blogs, and show off the handiwork of miniaturists Down East.
The House of Miniatures is an informational web site about the now defunct X-acto The House of Miniatures furniture kit product line. A great source of information and ideas.
Although their site is not up yet as of this writing, Hobby Resource offers a number of my completed items, as well as many kits, new and used hobby items, closeouts, etc.
Many of the items pictured on this site have been featured in my blog at the Maine Miniatures web site. I have recorded the process and sometimes offered tips on methods, etc.
